Friends of Frank Barnes (FOFB)

Friends of Frank Barnes is the charity partner of Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children. We are all volunteers that have a passion for developing the young minds of Deaf Children.

Interested in becoming a FOFB Volunteer

Are you keen to support Deaf children in Deaf education? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to bring their wealth of experience and join our charity: Friends of Frank Barnes (FOFB). FOFB supports Frank Barnes School for Deaf children to enhance the education experience for each Deaf child that attends. Whether this is for whole school projects or individualised support for deaf children and their families, FOFB provides funding to enable these to take place. We are looking for keen, committed individuals who share our passion for Deaf children and Deaf education, and ideally have fundraising experience. Working as part of a team, you will share the responsibility to try and fund raise as much as possible, raise our profile and build a great network of contacts. Meeting every two months, you will have the opportunity to implement your own initiatives, and we welcome any suggestions to develop our charity further!

Home School Communication Project

The aim of this project is to support communication between children and their families/carers at home. This project aims to break down communication barriers and increase fluency in British Sign Language (BSL) in their home environment. We aim to improve communication through BSL between parents, families, siblings and the wider community. A priority of the project is to actively address the issue of language deprivation and limited communication at home by engaging with and working directly with families.

Please support us with fundraising to ensure this project is sustainable. We rely on fundraising initiatives and the support of our local community and partners for donations to pay for the staffing and resources to run the project. The more funds we raise, the more families we can support.
