Salary:                  Grade 5, Scale Point Range 12 – 15   £34,359 (FTE) / £17,977 (pro-rata)     

Hours:                  21hrs p/w (part-time: Mon-Wed), Term time only (TTO)

We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants who have the following:

  • Excellent skills in leading, managing and teaching a class in a teacher’s absence
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in delivering elements of the curriculum
  • High expectations of deaf children and their achievements
  • Good sign language skills (minimum Level 3 BSL)
  • Good literacy skills in English
  • Secure knowledge of safeguarding practice and procedures

The role: 

The post is for an HLTA supporting the work of the classteacher, leading groups of children or classes across EYFS and Key Stages 1 and 2 to provide cover for teachers in their absence and PPA time. The HLTA will also support with co-ordinating support staff duty cover/timetable arrangements. The post will also involve preparing and delivering a differentiated learning programme/curriculum in liaison with the class teacher and/or SENCO. We provide the following support and training:

  • Strong induction and guidance/mentoring
  • British Sign Language training
  • Whole school staff development and training

We are committed to safeguarding children and any appointment is subject to satisfactory checks and references. The position will require an Enhanced DBS check including barred list check. The post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (as amended in 2013 & 2020). This means that applicants are not required to disclose details of any youth cautions or ‘protected’ criminal convictions, adult cautions or bind-overs they may have incurred.
