Ancient World Family Discovery Day 22 July 2015
The Ancient World Family Discovery Day held at the British Museum on 20th June 2015 was another huge success. The Mayor of Camden, Cllr Larraine Revah joined the event too and was most impressed with what she saw. Many families came and had lots of fun taking part in the all the different activities. These included making lanterns with the October Gallery, pigeon post letters with the British Postal Museum and Archive, bank notes with Citibank and origami figures with the Origami Society. Families also took part in drama workshops by Deafinitely Theatre, learning BSL with Remark and watching wonderful BSL stories by Joe Sheridan from ITV Signed Stories. The Dogs Trust also brought 2 beautiful dogs and taught the children how to approach and handle them safely and considerately. Families could also dress up in historical costumes at the Camden Family Learning photo booth. SambaKids gave 2 very loud and powerful drumming performances in the Great Court, which amazed all of the families attending and visitors coming to the Museum!
We are very grateful to the British Museum for hosting the day, to all the organisations that provided information stalls and activities for families and to all of our partners in Camden Family Learning who made the day possible.
If you go into the Galleries section of the website – you can see lots of photos of families learning together and having such enormous fun.
Save the date: Saturday 7th May 2015 from 12.00pm- 4.00pm will be our next Family Discovery Day at the British Museum.
