Welcome

Karen SimpsonWelcome to the new website of Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children.

We hope this will be the start of a rewarding partnership between our school and your family.

Frank Barnes School is one of the few schools for Deaf children in England with a sign bilingual and bicultural philosophy and the only one of its kind in London.

We are very proud of our school, especially the achievements of the children and the expertise and dedication of the staff team. The school ethos and the Deaf Studies curriculum help the children to develop a positive Deaf identity. This enables the children to develop high levels of self-esteem and confidence in themselves as independent and successful learners.

Frank Barnes School has a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence in educating Deaf children whose first language is British Sign Language (BSL). Each child is treated as an individual, and the school’s commitment to improving children’s English means that, through BSL, children are also taught English, becoming fluent in both languages.

As a staff, we have high expectations: we work effectively as a team and believe strong partnerships with parents are essential. The children and staff of Frank Barnes hope you will visit the school and see for yourself what a high quality education we offer.

We look forward to meeting you soon!
